National Holstein Convention Sales

Sale Summary
The two sales revolving around the 2012 National Convention took place in record breaking temperatures in southwest Missouri. The sales combined to make a total gross of $1,308,700 while selling 105 lots averaging $12,463.81. The consignments sold to 17 different states with both Canada and Germany appearing on the sale summary.

Working hard every day for 10 days prior to the sale were 5 strong sale committee members led by Larry "Leroy" Wright with Michelle Ramaeker-Eilenstine a constant and dependable helper.

The entire Grove Dairy cast of owners, workers and children were another constant help throughout the fitting process. Nine fitters, including two night people, five leads people and an internationally known sale staff of 19 individuals worked both behind the scenes and in front of the cameras of Dairy Agenda Today and CowBuyer.com. A total of more than 43 people each with a supporting cast at home allowing them to take the time off to help, all worked to pull the 2012 National Convention Sale through the knotholes and made it happen in grand fashion.

Topping the sale at $76,000 was a 3 month old calf selling in absentee. With huge genomic numbers and a tremendous sire stack and maternal family, the consignment of Cookiecutter Holsteins, New York commanded the high selling position with Daisy Dairy, Paris, Texas holding the card at the end of the bidding. The second high at $52,000 was the consignment of Larcrest Holsteins with Larry Lexvold the buyer. A new consignor, Keith Nettekoven, with a different branch of the Dellia cow family found his consignment commanding the third high of the sale at $48,000. Daisy Dairy, Paris, Texas was again the buyer of this outstanding young heifer.

With the unique features available at the Juanita K Hammons Performing Arts Center the sale was preceded by the very talented Bontrager Family performing on stage for the early comers. Spotlights, a moving stage, a talented singer and Horace Backus touching on the 42 National Conventions he has been involved with kicked the sale into full gear. The handful of breeders in Missouri had proven their doubters wrong and because of their hard work and dedication, the 2012 National Convention Sale will go down in history as one to remember.
